The oldest surviving theatre in Columbus, Ohio and one of the oldest in the state, the Southern Theatre opened in 1896. It was originally designed for theatrical touring productions and later accommodated silent films, vaudeville and first- and second-run motion pictures. Today, the theatre is the permanent home of the city's ProMusica Chamber Orchestra.
